According to this piece, The Department of Homeland Security (yes they’ve finally come out with something useful) has discovered that grumpy, out-of-sorts, bad mood, carrying-a-chip-on-their-shoulders, disgruntled employees sabotage their work. Are we talking here major Passive-Aggressive wackos or what?

This ought to scare you to death!

I have worked on “The Management” as well as “The Managed” side of all sorts of jobs. I have seen this psycho-wacko behavior on more than one occasion.

Once I was working on “The Managed” side of a company that made all manner of surgical supplies. One such item they made was a heart catheter. It was rated with a natural 4 percent failure rate—and I think I know why. Transmission: Automatic to Manual Conversion

When I purchased my EG4 Civic hatchback in 1998, I loved everything about it, the body interior and engine were all in excellent condition. However, there was one thing that I would not have chosen: the automatic transmission. The original engine was a JDM D15B SOHC VTEC, rated at a respectable 130 p.s. especially for a 1500 cc!

So I started my research on the net to find out my options with respect to getting the car converted to manual transmission. In my search, I discovered Eric’s B16A site and the Hybrid site among others. So I began to think, why go through the trouble of Аудиотехника changing the transmission on the 1500, might as well go for it an put in a DOHC 1600cc VTEC and gain 40 hp in the process! I considered a B18C but those engines are rare and expensive in Trinidad. In any case the JDM second generation B16A puts out the same horsepower, with a bit less torque. From what I had learned on the Internet I knew the engine would fit fine. Also because my car originally came with a VTEC engine, I knew that the wiring would not be very difficult.

I read as much as I could find on swaps, and tried to plan the operation to the best of my ability. Let me point out, that there is no substitute for good information, so if you are planning any sort of hybrid, read as much as you can BEFORE you start; web sites, FAQs, articles, magazines, whatever. I chose to have a local shop with considerable Honda experience do the work and I was able to locate the engine from a local importer.

MY MISTAKE I knew that it would be best to purchase the engine and accessories as a package, and that’s just what I did. But I focussed on the big items, Engine, Y21 LSD trany, ECU, Complete engine wire harness, axles, and in so doing, I did not even realize that the engine did not have the mounts! (No AC unit either!) Now although In my country we have quite a brisk trake in JDM parts, some things are almost impossible to get, like mounts!

Five Ways to Increase Your Website Conversion Rate

Though it’s wonderful to get all those hits to your e-commerce web site, hits don’t mean much unless you convert them into sales. This is especially true if you are paying for, and not converting, clicks.

If your website is suffering from the “Conversion Rate Blues”, consider the following steps for improving sales and ultimately, profits:

1. Make sure your website is optimized to attract people with the highest potential to buy

When I first designed my log furniture website, Log Cabin Rustics, I unwittingly targeted an audience that wasn’t the perfect one for my site. I managed to get pretty high on the scale, however, for log cabin related searches.

People who build log cabins are a target market of mine, since many of them eventually purchase log furniture to go with their home. When I re-optimized my site for the search terms I thought would bring the highest conversion rate, visitors to my site were more likely to buy because my site was selling what they were searching for. 2. Add a personal, trustworthy touch to your site

I don’t personally care to have my picture posted on the front of my website, although many people do. I do have my name prominently on the site, together with information about why I sell log furniture and my business background as a CPA. I have found that a personal touch goes a long way towards selling log furniture. Many of my customers spend $2,000, $3,000 or even $4,000 on their log furniture order, and some of them have waited years to get the furniture they want.

They didn’t find what they wanted in their local area (they must not have many white cedar trees in Texas), but they found it on my site. There’s just one problem, however. They wish they could touch the furniture, slide the drawers in and out, look for drips in the finish, and generally evaluate the quality before the drop that kind of money. I have had people drive 4-6 hours on more than one occasion for that very reason, and frankly, I don’t blame them. I’m pretty picky about my furniture too. Making Meetings Work: 9 Tips

1. Have an agenda. Start out with an agenda handed out to the appropriate people at least 72 hours in advance, listing time, date, and place of meeting.

This is the key to running meetings that don’t go overtime and yet get results. Also, if the meeting is short, sweet, and productive, it will positively affect people’s attitudes about future meetings.

3. Appoint a timekeeper. Make an announcement ahead of time stating exactly how many minutes each person is given to speak or share ideas. Appoint an individual as timekeeper and literally give that person a “timer” that goes off if someone runs overtime. This is beneficial in brainstorming sessions if someone goes off on tangents, or monopolizes the meeting.

4. Appoint a meeting secretary. Appoint a secretary who will write down the minutes, what was discussed in the meeting, and distribute this to everyone within 48 hours of the meeting ending.
